Department of Mechanical Engineering

We cultivate basic knowledge and high problem-solving abilities, thus contributing to the establishment of a recyclable society through product manufacturing.

Mass production, mass transportation, mass consumption, and mass disposal have been repeated behind a society that has pursued material affluence. Now, we need to move away from this industrial structure, and contribute to building a recyclable society through product manufacturing. This is one of the most important challenges for today’s mechanical engineers. The department strives to foster human resources who have sufficient basic knowledge in mechanical engineering, and play a role in developing next-generation scientific technology. Specifically, we offer courses in the two fields of mechanical science and aerospace, and mechanical intelligence and robotics, and foster human resources with problem-solving abilities, for example, who can strengthen their expertise, think by themselves, and act on their own initiative.

Mechanical Science and Aerospace

In response to challenges mainly in aerospace system engineering, we offer courses on the basics of mechanical engineering and cultivate specific and practical abilities extensively, focusing on mechanical materials engineering, hydraulics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer engineering. We also offer courses on functional materials engineering, solid mechanics, viscous fluid engineering, aerospace fluid engineering, combustion engineering, basic automobile engineering, and control engineering.

Mechanical Intelligence and Robotics

In response to challenges mainly in robotics engineering, we offer courses on the basics of mechanical engineering and cultivate specific and practical abilities extensively, focusing on mechanical dynamics, mechanical manufacturing processes, and mechanical design engineering. We also offer courses on computer control, control engineering, production technology, production systems engineering, and tribology.
