Summary I am engaged in research into materials particularly in the fields of superconductivity and thermoelectric energy conversion to address the coming energy crisis and environmental destruction. In the superconductivity field, I have developed a superconducting bulk magnet that is more than 10 times as strong as a permanent magnet and aim to apply it to magnetic separation for environmental purification and medical drug delivery systems (DDS). In the thermoelectric energy conversion field, I am developing new materials to convert waste heat, which accounts for 70% of the primary energy supply, effectively to electrical energy. My laboratory participates in many joint research projects with companies and research institutes in Japan and abroad.
