Summary My research is centered on strength and function enhancement of cast iron and mixtures of different materials. More specifically, I am conducting research to identify casting conditions affecting the fluidity of liquid metals, which are important in thin-wall iron casting, and based on a database of experimental results, to develop simulation programs on fluidity for materials design and casting planning. I am also researching developing technology to remove and detoxify impurity elements in scrap iron containing many harmful elements with the aim of functional enhancement of cast iron, and composite technology to combine cast iron with different materials, for instance, mild steel and stainless steel, to enable their use for automobile parts and machine materials.
