Summary My research focus is on synthesizing new materials for positive and negative electrodes for lithium secondary batteries, and establishing synthetic routes, and new cell reactions. Specifically, I analyze crystal structures of materials and evaluate their electrochemical properties to improve the performance of lithium secondary batteries and study interface reactions between electrodes and electrolyte and materials development, which are especially important in developing new types of batteries. Recently, in order to meet the need for larger batteries for power storage systems and cars, I am also engaged in improving safety and lowering the cost of these batteries. I believe that these research efforts will contribute to creating an environmentally friendly society.
