Summary As redox-active (electron transfer-type) molecular groups are expected to be used as organic conductors in the development of various kinds of functional materials, many research and development projects focusing on these molecular groups have been conducted in recent years. In line with this trend, my laboratory is engaged in research and development of a new redox-active molecular group, a combination of organic molecules and metals that can control multi-electron transfer by potential scanning, which has not been possible with any of the conventional organic molecules. More specifically, we seek to create an organic molecule-organic metal hybrid molecular group with multi-electron transfer ability, a combination of a thiophene skeleton (organic redox center) and ferrocene, an organic metal complex (metal redox center).
