Summary In our present-day society, as everything becomes systematized quickly to improve efficiency, opportunities are increasing for us to have machines and computers do what humans used to do. To respond this trend, it is essential to develop systems with human-like learning and cognitive abilities. My laboratory is engaged in developing various kinds of intelligent systems with optimization and estimation as the keywords. Particular efforts are focused on establishing audio tele-existence techniques for teleoperation, a theoretical framework of adaptive filtering algorithms, and computational intelligence including deep learning.
