Summary Thanks to the genome project, increased knowledge concerning biological polymers such as proteins and nucleic acids has brought and is still bringing significant changes in bio-related fields. Various bio-related industries are expected to emerge in the future. It is likely that biological polymers will play a key role in these industries. Reflecting this viewpoint, I study the structure and function of GABA receptors, a type of channel-linked receptor that is essential to neuronal function, with the aim of elucidating the in-vivo role of proteins and other biological polymers and developing new analysis methods. I also investigate proteins within the nervous system whose function has not yet been determined and study their structures and functions.
