Summary The main focus of my research is the development of high-performance and high-durability concrete. To improve the performance of concrete, I develop materials for concrete that is used for super-high-rise buildings of the future and verify whether they are durable in terms of their mechanical strength. In my research to improve the durability of concrete, I study freeze-thaw resistance, an issue unique to cold areas such as Iwate. There have recently been many reports on the degradation of concrete worsened by snow melting agents, particularly in the concrete around roads. To address this problem, I am engaged in research to elucidate this mechanism with the aim of developing a maintenance and management method for concrete structures.
