Summary C. elegans has only 302 neurons, which is much fewer than those in higher organisms. Each of these neurons is given a name and differentiated from the others. In addition, the types and numbers of connections from every neuron to every other neuron and where they are connected to have also been mapped completely. My research group is engaged in studying in detail in-vivo signal processing and transferring in neural circuits using computer-generated neural circuits of the nematode. The results we have obtained so far from the study have allowed us to understand the conditions needed to connect movements smoothly between the head and the body in forward movement.
