Summary Researchers in organic synthesis have recently become increasingly interested in studying reactions specific to heteroatom-containing compounds and applying them to practical uses. While compounds containing heavier chalcogen elements are unstable due to their high chemical reactivity, if it were possible to generate such a compound effectively and manipulate its high chemical reactivity so that the compound could be used in organic synthesis, it would enable us to supply useful compounds easily and inexpensively. In this context, my research focuses on generation of active chemical species, including the double bond of a chalcogen atom and a carbon atom, and drug synthesis using them.
