Summary As shown by the recently expanded application of “terrestrial digital broadcasting,” the move from analogue to digital is increasing in various fields. Digital signal processing has attracted much attention as a critical technology to facilitate this move and is becoming increasingly important in building advanced information infrastructures. My laboratory is engaged in research into basic and applied digital signal processing, and also into high-performance LSI processors. Our research also focuses on developing high-performance arithmetic circuits for multiplying, dividing, elementary function calculations, and modulo calculations used for encryption and decryption, because the performance of the entire integrated system depends on the arithmetic circuit mounted on the chip.
