Summary My research efforts focus on evaluating the aquatic environment in rivers, lakes and dam lakes and improving the water quality. More specifically, my research interests include the influence of treated sewage water discharged into rivers and river repair works on water quality and aquatic insects inhabiting riverbeds, measures to address water quality changes caused by eutrophication of reservoirs, and the influence of heavy metal contamination on attached algae and aquatic insects. I am also engaged in research into the behavior of arsenic and heavy metals in the sewage treatment process and development of a treatment device using bacteria to efficiently remove arsenic contained in ground water.
